and the weather today is...............

.....................ummmm mixed, as usual! Feeling buoyed up by enough sunshine for a park visit this afternoon I actually put my washing out to dry on the line. Needless to say it was a bad move. We now have monsoon rain (again) and I could swear the seagulls were laughing at my foolishness whilst I desperately yanked it all back off the line again.

Kitty has settled into school really well, in fact she leaves me without so much as a backward glance, desperate not to miss the morning story. Thank you for all your comments, it hasn't been as painful as I thought it might have been, it's just a weird feeling that I can't quite put my finger on.

Mornings off this week have necessitated not one but two cafe visits, I don't think my waistline can take it! I took two friends along to Anna's on Tuesday and we stuffed ourselves with the most delicious bacon sarnies, coffee and waffles. Having been shown the basics of crochet by a very kind friend over the summer holidays we're now trying to find a kindly soul to give us some tips over a few cuppas, and probably the odd bacon sarnie, at No.9.

In the brief periods of dry weather when I have ventured into the garden I noticed that one of my dahlia's is still doing me proud, and the lavender in my car boot bread bin smells delicious. Let me add that these are the only things looking good in my garden. No, the evidence is compelling, I'm not a natural gardener.

Let's finish with a little treasure, my tiny 50p green box from the last car boot haul. Question is, what can I do with it, suggestions please! A little goody bag will wing it's way to the most inventive!

Keep your little green box until you need somewhere safe to keep your dentures at night!!!! Is that a winning suggestion? ;o)

I'd keep wishbones in it (washed of course) for emergency wish-making situations ... (like "I wish it would stop raining" ... "I wish they didn't have to go to school" ... "I wish it was a school-day!")

So funny, the only things decent in my garden now are the dahlias and the lavender as well. Oh and some busy lizzies, but mostly everything has had its day.

Thats your red pear that I love again as well isnt it - stop teasing me with it LOL
I know what you mean about it being strange when they are at school - ive felt so weird this week like somethings missing (which it is) but am hoping another week or so will make it feel more normal!!
RE Green box - I like the dentures idea LOL or how about a mini emergency sewing kit for when your out and about or mini first aid kit with some plasters and sachets of calpol!!!

Cute green box, what about keeping your crochet bits and bobs in it? Although lucy locket-pocket's idea has merit! Rachaelxo

Hi Jula
I think you should stuff as much chocolate in the little box as poss :: my current fave are giant chocolate buttons, to be found at WHSmiths of all places :: you would then have a Chocolate Button Box, which you would have to keep close by at ALL TIMES so you always have a little pick-me-up in times of need.

Can you tell I have something similar lol??!!

I think it where the little green men live.

Enjoy your child free hours with many cakes.

This is the undoing of me.

Hi Julia, Im so glad that Kitty has settled well into school. Could you use the little box to keep paracetomol or other tablets in your handbag?

P.S - I have tagged you, but don't worry if you've done it already or can't be bothered!

I love that little green box and it would have been perfect while I was away at the weekend. I would have put all my earrings in it!!

Hello
It's only me!
Suggestions for filling the little green box;
Store all your toe nail clippings!
Store those little white tablets that calm you in moments of stress - ie. out with me!?
Store sugar sprinkles for when you get caught short at the ice-cream van!
You could store the coins that are left of from your weekly shopping budget after all those coffees in cafes!
or finally you could put in the list of 'To do' things that are planned now that all your littlies are at school, it won't be long but don't forget to include the volunteering?!
I'm sure I'll win a prize for the longest list so if I do I don't want any Sarah Smith dish cloths or those 'vintage' coasters but a picture of the Russian dolls would go down a treat!!!
See ya

Lovely box Julia, how about drying some of the lavender that you have grown and keeping that in your box. A reminder of summer....did we have one this year?!....every time you open it.

Mmmm I can thing of lots of things, but one thought keeps coming in to my head... is it not a box for dentures... Oh I am being naughty, I am sure I remember one like this being by the side of the bath when I was a little girl... no offense meant... I think it would have to be for ear rings, at least they are adorned on the body!!!! ;-)

I think it is perfect for handbag supplies of essentials. For example a few tea bags/herbal tea bags, a sachet of salt, sugar, coffee. I have a few of those in the bottom of my bag and regularly rummage around looking for them. It is a soap box though isn't it? I think my mum has some somewhere. However I would def use it for something else. The only other thing I thought was a button box. Oh and brain wave, a cute box for some wet wipes for your car/handbag!

This looks very like the boxes which used to come filled with 6 bath cubes, about 50 years ago!
However, what a nice thing to keep buttons in!

What a pretty box. You could stash all your loose change in it ready for the car boot so when you need some pennies your never without!

Your little green box is so precious. Why don't you keep photos in it of all the people in your life who are "precious" to you?

I think the little green box would be perfect for hiding chocolates that are for Mummies consumption only lol wink, wink.
Or fabulous for putting some much loved mini items with sentimental feelings to them.
Oh I can't wait to go into Anna's No.9 again, did you try the Vanilla latte? it's soooo yummy.
Glad you're putting you're free mummy time to very good use. I;m a bit of a regular in out Costa on a Wednesday now shhh! don't tell lol
Many hugs, see you soon.

The search is still on for the crochet teacher...never fear, it is all in hand! I have even come up with a name for our get togethers....'Happy Hookers' HAHAHA!! maybe not. I fear that may be a tad OTT for the older residents of BC. Please come back soon- the waffle maker is missing you!x
Oooh, green box, chocolate, definitely..but tell the kids it's where you keep cabbage, obviously.x

Just reading over your blog, like you do and laughed when I saw the peg bag...Ahhh it brought back memories of my childhood, my bedroom summer sheets matched it, in the winter they changed over to flannel sripes...

Well I don't know if you are still taking suggestions for the little green box but I thought it would be ideal as a first-aid box for all the little boo-boos. Sandy
