Cake, cake and .............erm more cake!

Last Friday morning found a bunch of mums with nowhere else they needed to be, eating cake and drinking coffee (how much coffee!!) in my kitchen. All in aid of Macmillan nurses. Ian suggested it may be a good idea to join in with the "biggest coffee morning" idea since we do spend an inordinate amount of time drinking the stuff elsewhere, and it was a great success. I did feel a bit strange making people pay to eat cake in my house, but I also ran a little raffle and we managed to raise over £100. I was thrilled when I opened the donations tin, and to all the friends who read this blog (not many, because I do keep it quite secret) can I say a big THANK YOU!

I was slightly worried that I may not have enough tea and coffee pots so one of the girls brought round the two beauties below, which needless to say nearly made me hyperventilate with joy, they so reminded me of the Featherdown Farm enamel ones. When I took them to school to give them back she said that as they had made me so (ridiculously) happy, and since they spent most of the time in her cupboard, that I could keep them. Forever. Hurrah!! It made my day.

After the arrival of the log man, Mr Coal arrived, so we could finally do this...........

Oh the bliss of an open fire, a cup of tea and autumn tv.....................I won't be leaving the house for a while!
Before I disappear again I must tell you that after many requests Andrea has bitten the bullet and opened a website here. Pay her a visit, she really has some fab stuff.
See you all soon....................

Well done you, I did a yummy mummy charity coffee morning (they support clic sergent) last year and raised £70 but feel really guilty as I meant to do it again this year but since moving house I completely forgot about it. I've already been on Andreas site, I came across it the other day, wish her lots of luck....Claire x

Great tea pot and coffee pot. What a nice present for you!

Your fire looks lovely. I have coal fires too but am putting off lighting them until mid november at the earliest. Coal and gas (for ch cost so much I'm on a frugal drive)

Love the teapot and coffee pot and of course the cake . . yum!

I had a bit of a disaster concerning my contribution to my friend's Macmillon coffee morning. I made a ginger cake but as I had run out of baking parchment, i just put it in the greased tin. Big mistake! It stuck.

And then Roland reminded me that he had the car that day so I couldn't go anyway.

P.s I ate the cake anyway. after I cut off the burnt bits and scraped the bits off the bottom of the oven.

P.P.S Actually i lied.
I am yet to scrape the bits off the bottom of the oven.

Well done sweetie, it seems so many of us in blog land made a real effort this year with the Macmillon support and it just fills my heart with a big smile.
Such a fabulous charity. I would of loved to of come along to your coffee morning that coffee cake looks so yummy.
Your fire looks very warming and inviting, I wouldn't want to leave it at all. Good book, chocolates and glass or 2 of wine, what heaven.
Can't wait to see you soon in Nov honey.
Right I'm off to look at Andrea's website. I'm only sorry that my Ben couldn't help her like he wanted to, but what with his work load doubling it had to come first. I'm sure if she needs any other help he'll be more than happy to help.
Lot sof love,

Well done with the coffee morning. Such a great cause, we couldn't have managed without one of their nurses during my grandmothers final days. A godsend.
I bought that very same red enamel coffee post for Anna at All Things Lovely after her stay at Feather Down Farm. Was tempted to keep it myself though!
