going........going.......gone.........

I have a little confession to make. I am addicted to avocados. Can't get enough of them. I try to find ways to stuff as many as possible into my weekly meal plans. Kit shares my obsession, not so Jack who'd probably rather eat a fried slug. Flitting through "Nigella Express" for lunchtime inspiration I came across her bruschetta recipe with tomatoes and avocados (does it have a "e" when plural - who knows?) and it was totally delicious. Simple and set to become a lunchtime staple in the VH household, better than a ham sandwich any day.

Another favourite in this house, Henney's cider, even better when they're on offer in the supermarket. It's even turned Ian into a cider slurper.

Finally, another half price offer, and a particular favourite of mine, Cadbury's Caramel, straight from the freezer, guaranteed to pull out any loose fillings. I like a bit of Green & Black's after a meal but for pure comfort food it has to be good old Cadbury's for me, it's my Northern roots you know!
See you later in the week, I'm off to slurp and munch - ooer missus!

Ooh Julia, I love advocados and I love bruschetta (I always order it as a starter at our local Italian restaurant) so I will definitely be trying that recipe - i will be on my own though, as the rest of my family liken advocado to eating soap!

P.S - My - that really is a tidy tea towel drawer!!

Even when I was typing that, I was thinking "avocado doesn't have a 'd' in it" - Duh !!!!!

Over here in NZ we just had the episode of Nigella Express with the avocado brushetta and I thought it sounded delicious. My two fav chocs in the world are the two you mentioned which we can also get here at inflated prices of course but worth every mouthful!

Have you tried Nigella's pea and avocado houmous recipe? So delicious and even converted my avocado hating daughter. I serve it with chilli or as a dip.Sometimes it doesn't even get to the plate!

I must give the Henney's a go, what a cool name, we love cider here at the HenHouse.

I love avocadoes too. Nigella's express recipe for the salmon steak with watercress and avocado salad is nice too. Any more Nige Express recipes to recommend?

Me too! I adore avocados andone of our favourite meals (although the children don't like it at all) chopped avocado, baby tomatoes, basil and mozarella cheese (the type in the bag with the liquid) mixed into warm pasta with salad dressing or oil and vinegar as the sauce -yummy!

Like the sound of that lunch. I am currently trying to renovate the house after the summer onslaught of kids and many visitors as we live by the beach. Fortunately the carpet is sand coloured but the walls and all the bits and pieces of everything need sorting out. I am trying to pace myself and not get stressed that I am not achieving too much too quickly. I just want to have it all straight by christmas but I am going to leave no nook or cranny untouched. The great thing about the kids being at school is we dont need so much at home so I am going to do a bit of culling and therefore car boot selling if the flipping rain would only stop at the weekends! Love Emma x

I'm with Jack I'm afraid when it comes to Avoccados, infact I think I'd rather eat 10 fried slugs and throw in a couple of worms for good measure!!
Now I shall definately be on the look out for the Henneys cider!

Hi Julia
I am enjoying the glut of tomatoes at the mo - squashed on bits of toast with pepper, mmmm yum!
Thankyou for your comment - the reception was in the hall plus we hired a very cheap marquee in cas of bad weather. Unfortunately no band, so hard to get what we wanted that in the end my cousin did a bit of DJ on a hired system. I strongly recommend using very local people ie villiage halls - cheap, Scout group for the Marquee -cheap!! Also they were all so friendly and kind - priceless!
Let me in on why!....... tee hee

I adore avocados too especially when I discovered my local market stall sells a bowl full for £1! About 8 in total, I could eat those in two sittings. Has to be Cadbury's caramel for me too, but I like it at room temperature, perhaps I'll try it from the freezer next time, I'm trying not to buy any because I end up eating half a large bar at a time.

Oh what great taste!
I was strangely addicted to avocado pears during my pregnancy and as a result my son loves them too!!
As for Cadbury's Caramel & Green & Black's...two faves of mine too...
Must be good for you...???
