On Saturday we had a trip to Crosby to see Anthony Gormley's "Another Place" statues. Jack's teacher had lent him a book about the artist so we thought we'd grab the opportunity to visit. I can highly recommend a trip there. When we arrived the tide was in and the statues were nowhere to be seen. However after we'd picnicked (egg sandwiches and china teacups again - we love you Mum!) the tide was on it's way out and the statues started appearing above the water, it was an amazing sight, a bit surreal but very serene and calm at the same time. We had a long walk down the beach and got up close to a few, the children loved them, particularly the rather large appendages hanging from the front, they caused much amusement!
We came home laden with fresh salmon Dad had caught the day before and lots of goodies they'd brought back from an Isle of Man trip. On the way home we listened to our song of the moment "Chasing Cars" by "Snow Patrol", Jack goes totally wild as the music revs up, it's a brilliant song, to hear it go to lucylocket, it's on her duke box thingy.
The children have been packed off to bed with hot water bottles, the fire's lit and the wine's been poured. Here's to Sunday nights!..................

Hi Julia
It sounds like a lovely relaxing weekend. Don't you just love picnics - especially when someone else takes the time to provide the food!

Hello Julia,

Hi Julia, looks like you had a lovely time, watching the heads of those statues appear as the tide went out must have been very surreal!
Thanks for the photos Julia, I would have loved to have seen those statues. Oh and egg sandwiches and cups of tea on the beach, what could be better. Apart from Sunday night by the fire and a glass of wine!

Aren't those statues fab!! Very surreal as you say!! Glad you had a lovely weekend!x
What a lovely weekend you had. I LOVE those sculptures - how amazing! My brother-in-law is a sculptor and does a lot of outdoor installations - I can't wait to show him these.
Only the other day I saw pictures of these great statues and I definitely want to see them for real. They are such a great idea and I think every beach should have them. I don't claim to no anything about the subject, but I do love sculpture. I downloaded Chasing Cars and there is also an acoustic version which is equally as good. Will pay you a visit again.
First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question
in which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I've had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out.
I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any suggestions or tips? Appreciate it!
