Bicycles, books and blankets.........

There seem to be three obsessions going on in this house. Wherever I go I'm faced with piles of books, blankets in a heap, or bikes. I've just removed one of the aforementioned bikes from our bedroom where it was lounging against the fireplace, not an attractive addition to the decor to my mind. At the last count we had about 10 bikes in this household, bearing in mind we live in a terraced house and have no garage and a pretty small garden, that's a lot of bikes to conceal! To Ian they're a thing of beauty, to me they're an obstacle (apart from my gorgeous "Cameo" of course!) and I can regularly be heard muttering after catching my ankle on one of them.

Blankets are another key feature of this house. I can't resist them and the children seem to be following suit. Kit even has a serious blanket routine at bedtime, where no less that one duvet, one eiderdown and three blankets have to be tucked round her in the same order every night.

This is my latest little bargain, had to have it for the car. It's one of those gorgeous soft blankets, and red polka dot to boot!

Finally, books........All of us love books, they are in every room in this house. We have so many that I worry that one day I'll come home to find the house sunk into the ground under the sheer weight! I love the vintage Enid Blytons in Jack's room almost as much as he does (although Beano is beginning to take over!). Some of them are rescued from Mum and Dad's garage, but I've had to replace most of mine from childhood because most of our toys and books were passed onto our many cousins.

The books we keep on the living room bookshelves include Ian's beloved "Biggles" collection and all the books passed down by his Dad who was a professor of law. Needless to say I'm not often to be found reading "Employment Laws of Scotland" but they mean a lot to us and remind Ian of his Dad who's no longer here.

So there you go, what little obsessions do you have I wonder?.................

We've got so many eiderdowns that I think I need to seek help! At last in blogdom I've found a place where I know my eiderdown obsession can be appreciated!

There are worse obsessions/addictions one could be saddled with. We are the same here with the blankets. But we fancy books as well, and cushions, little lamps, cute footstools, needlepoint rugs...

Thank goodness for obsessions!

Lovely eye-candy in this post - books and blankies! What a perfect combination!

Books and blankets for me too. I have books in every room except for the bathroom. Blankets are a more recent obsession but I'm starting to build a nice collection. I suppose the other obsession is fabric. I just can't stop buying it and it can be found in most cupboards in my flat. I'm supposedly on a mission to use what I have for upcoming projects but I think it will quickly be replaced.

My obsession would have to be lamps and lampshades. Seeing your lovely pics though, I think now that I need more blankets and books too! ;-)

Defintely books, books and more books. You could trip over piles of them in our house, that and seemingly countless animals.

Oh most definitely books and quilts. They go together don't they?! Along with a myriad of other collections! I love those Enid Blyton books. I am going to have to look for them on Ebay.

Roland also has a bike obsession and his latest one is propped up in the dining room. Groan! I'm always tripping over it. I'm obsessed with vintage books, blankets, quilts and eiderdowns too and we've got far too many for the beds we have. Weirdly, Jack's bed is identical to Alexei's -although Alexei's is white and he shoves his patchwork quilt on the floor as he's a bit of a hot bod!
There seem to be a lot of parallels between your house and mine!

I love quilts and blankets too. I have them in almost every room in the house! If I could have a blanket or quilt in the shower I probably would too! : )
