she's gone.....................

With a little hesitation and a small smile she let go of my hand and her new school life began. A little bit of my heart went with her and I let the tears come only once I knew she couldn't see me. We enjoyed the last morning of our old life together eating sausage rolls, gingerbread biscuits and making fairy cakes. So begins the next chapter, exciting, daunting and for me just a little bit sad. How I'll miss her..................

This morning this little gem of a postcard popped through my letterbox from Andrea, just to let me know she was thinking about me, what better friend could I ask for? By the way Andrea, is that us three in the top left??
Thank you for all the fridge comments, I must also tell you that Andrea has a few sets of the glass, spotty lidded dishes left along with far too many gorgeous treasures. If you're interested please feel free to email her at andreahannis@yahoo.co.uk. By the way the mashed potato is STILL in the fridge!

Hugs, Julia. You've just brought tears to my eyes - such a bittersweet time, but how exciting for your little one! We have another year until my smaller one starts, but the house does feel very empty now the bigger one is back at school.

hope she had a happy day and that you didn't find the house too quiet...it's lovely when they come home again after school...(well, once they've had something to eat and stopped squabbling in the car :P )

Oh Julia I feel very touched and was welling up reading todays post. It must be so hard letting her go but a positive moment as well. I have all this to come next Friday Emily starts nursery at her school and has to wear the uniform but I still have a precious year left with her.

Just had a wee cry at that......feel quite emotional at the moment.....think its because i'm in the process of going back to "work" and not childminding anymore, i've had such happy times and i'm going to be so gutted when i give up....BUT then it means i can have my own baby to cry over in 3yrs when she or he runs into school.......

How was today???xxxxx

Ahhh, lovely Kitty! She looks so cute in her gingham frock!
Love the cupcake cases, I may have to invest. Glad the mashed potato is still in the fridge, and that it's not just me who does that (at HOME only, obviously! Phew!)x

Aaah! Such a big step! I am at the other end of the spectrum - my first born has finished school! It seems only yesterday she was going to school on her first day with her new uniform & hair in plaits.

Hi Julia, oh gosh that was so emotional. My heart goes out to you and all the mums at the school gate on the first day. It's my turn next year and I'm dreading it! I hope your little girl is settling well. Doesn't she look sweet in her little gingham dress.

Hiya, glad you like the kitchen, I thought yours was perfect when I first saw it and wish I had your space, actually I think you will find many a blogger who covets your kitchen, did you know your a celeb in the blogging world....lol.
How sweet your little one looks in the pics. My youngest started full time last year, it was very strange just me at home as for the previous nine years I always had one of then with me! It does take a while to get used but then its rather nice to come home and let out a relaxing sigh....lol.....Claire x

I admit I got rather teary eyed reading this post. My son started school last year, and now, for 2 years I've protested the start of September...
