red................

During the school holidays the children and I naturally spend a lot more time together at home and the big benefit is that I haven't got the time to do any housework. This is the last summer holiday where Kit is still a pre-schooler so I'm determined not to spend the time hoovering and getting cross about the mess created by two little people. The sun has been shining all week and it's been bliss. The paddling pool is out and the water is now a beautiful sludge green, although the children don't seem to care. We've had trips to the library, the local lido and the park and generally enjoyed each others company (and got on each others' nerves quite a lot). Being at home so much makes you take notice of all the little details around you and I've noticed just how much red has crept into our home, from tea towels.................................

to stuffed pears.....................

from tins holding embroidery threads................................

to tins there for no purpose other than being pretty....................

from Kitty's first wellies that she wore constantly........................

to a Greengate cruet set...................

from my old ironing board and apron.................

to the children's rice bowls..................

from Kitty's new dress....................

to my favourite summer food, avocado salsa..................

The sun is still shining today (hooray!!) and we're off to a neighbours tonight for a barbeque. I'll leave you with a picture of something else we've been up to this week....................

..................henna tattoos.

See you all soon.................

I love the children's rice bowls! I have had red creep into my furnishings over the past year. Just a touch here and there. Today I am sporting a rather red face too due to the heat and too much sun!

I love every picture in this post.

I've got the same basket but ours is yellow and orange.

Any excuse not to do housework. a clean house is the sign of a wasted life as they say!

I love the colour red. And I love the Henna tattoos. Have tried to do them myself before, but for some reason they never work on my skin.

Great pictures, a dash of red is good for the soul. Your week has been very similar to ours, we spent about 3 hours inflating and filling the paddling pool earlier, the house is a complete tip and there's not a scrap of food in the fridge but we're having sooo much fun! Enjoy your hols.

We love henna tattoos! It's amazing how much red we have around isn't it. You have such lovely things, very pretty, I'm glad you didn't say you had red skin too from being out so much!

I've joined you on the no housework front this summer - it just gets in the way of having fun, but it does make finding things a little bit harder!

Thanks for dropping by Julia, I am so looking forward to this fair, just meeting everyone is going to be so much fun. I will be shopping too...I so prefer the things that we all make, to shop bought stuff, and that includes food, even our posts are better than a magazine are they not.
